Manyo Factory Azulene 2X Cleanser: First New Line in 13 Years

Manyo Factory’s Azulene Hyaluronic 2X cleanser line is the brand’s first new cleansing launch since its Pure Soybean Cleansing Oil, a gap of 13 years. The Manyo Factory azulene cleanser duo, a jelly cleanser and a serum-style oil, went on sale in Korea on September 7, 2026, and it has been showing up steadily in Korean beauty blogs since.

Cleansers are hard to judge from the bottle alone. A formula can take off sunscreen and makeup and still leave skin feeling tight afterward. This line is built around that problem: it pairs cleansing with ingredients usually associated with soothing and hydration.

Why the Line Is Getting Attention in Korea

Part of the interest is the brand itself. Manyo Factory’s Pure Soybean Cleansing Oil has been one of its best-known products for years, so a new cleansing line after more than a decade was always going to get noticed.

The other part is the ingredient. The brand built both products around azulene, a blue compound associated with chamomile. According to Manyo Factory, the azulene in the jelly cleanser is made about 2,500 times smaller than a pore and sealed into capsules that break as you massage the cleanser over your face.

The brand also describes its azulene as four times stronger than cica in soothing performance. That’s a brand claim, not the result of an independent head-to-head comparison, so it’s best read as positioning.

The launch started on Naver Smart Store and Manyo Factory’s official Korean site, with Musinsa, Kakao, and other Korean online shops following.

What’s in the Manyo Factory Azulene Cleansers

Manyo Factory publishes full ingredient lists for both products on its Korean site. They show that the two cleansers are quite different.

Azulene Hyaluronic 2X Soothing Jelly Cleanser (120 mL)

The jelly cleanser is the one that carries the line’s headline ingredients in measurable amounts. Its ingredient list includes:

  • Sodium hyaluronate (listed at 1,000 ppm), plus several other forms of hyaluronic acid
  • Guaiazulene (listed at 80 ppm), along with chamomile flower extract
  • Panthenol, madecassoside, and allantoin
  • Ceramide NP and squalane
  • Centella asiatica extract

It also lists fragrance, which is worth knowing if you usually avoid scented cleansers.

Azulene Hyaluronic 2X Serum Oil Cleanser (200 mL)

The oil cleanser is a more conventional oil blend. Its base includes ethylhexyl palmitate, soybean oil, squalane, and sunflower seed oil, with chamomile flower oil, panthenol, ceramide NP, and madecassoside further down the list. Manyo Factory says the formula is 80% skincare ingredients.

One detail stands out in the official list: the hyaluronic acid forms and guaiazulene in the oil are listed at trace levels (1 to 10 parts per billion). The azulene story really belongs to the jelly cleanser, and the oil is better thought of as the makeup-removal step. The oil also lists fragrance.

Texture: Jelly to Micro-Foam, and a Thicker Oil

Korean reviewers describe the jelly cleanser as a translucent blue gel with small visible capsules. Worked between damp hands, it turns into a dense, low-volume micro-bubble foam rather than a big lather. Several reviewers noted that it takes a bit more rolling than a typical foam cleanser before it foams up.

The oil is described as noticeably thicker than many lightweight cleansing oils, closer to a runny serum than a watery oil. That can make it easier to massage over dry skin without it running off your fingers.

A few impressions came up repeatedly in the blog reviews we looked at:

  • Skin didn’t feel squeaky or tight after rinsing the jelly cleanser
  • The jelly cleanser worked as a morning wash for reviewers who prefer something gentle before sunscreen
  • A dose about the size of a Korean 100-won coin (close to the size of a U.S. quarter) was enough for the face

All three Naver reviews we drew on were written with products and payment from the brand, so treat these impressions as an early read rather than neutral consumer feedback.

How Korean Reviewers Are Using Them

The Korean blog reviews we looked at described the same routine:

  • Evenings with makeup or sunscreen: serum oil cleanser first on dry skin, then the jelly cleanser on damp skin as a second cleanse
  • Evenings without makeup: the jelly cleanser on its own
  • Mornings: the jelly cleanser only

That matches how the brand pitches the line, as a two-step cleanse where the oil handles removal and the jelly handles the gentler second wash.

Who Might Like It — and Who Might Skip It

The line may suit people who like a hydrating-feeling cleanser and who often feel tight after washing. The brand positions it for skin that feels sensitized by heat or everyday external stressors.

If you’re fragrance-sensitive, note that both products list fragrance. If you mainly want the azulene and hyaluronic acid, the jelly cleanser is where those ingredients show up in meaningful amounts.

What Stands Out — and What Remains Unproven

What stands out is easy to check. The jelly cleanser has a distinctive capsule-to-micro-foam texture and a substantial ingredient list for a rinse-off product. The oil offers a thicker texture for people who find standard cleansing oils too thin.

What remains unproven is how much the soothing claims matter in everyday use. Manyo Factory says it ran human application tests on cooling, post-wash tightness, and moisture, but we couldn’t find the full results in the brand’s published product information, so we’re not repeating the percentages circulating in blog reviews. The “four times stronger than cica” line is also a brand comparison, not independent evidence.

The product details we could verify directly are the 120 mL and 200 mL sizes, the ₩23,000 and ₩28,000 list prices, the full ingredient lists, and the September 7, 2026 Korean launch.
